Ben Sunding

My name is Ben Sunding and I am excited to be working as Brevard Academy’s Outdoor Assistant. I have a love for natural spaces and local ecology, and I am very much looking forward to sharing that knowledge with young minds as they share their knowledge with me.

I was born and raised in Salisbury, North Carolina, but immediately fell in love with western part of the state. I went on to study Parks and Recreation at Appalachian State University and have worked at different organizations which focus on experiential outdoor education as well as social-emotional learning. 

I greatly enjoy hiking, camping, reading, spending time with loved ones, and I’m trying to teach myself how to play the harmonica. This school year I hope to see lots of salamanders, learn a lot from the kids, and share lots and lots of laughs.
