Molly Williams
My name is Molly Williams, and I am thrilled to be joining the Brevard Academy team as their Outdoor Education Instructor through the Mountain Roots organization.
I discovered my passion for outdoor education growing up in southeastern Pennsylvania where I spent my time exploring the fields of PA and the estuaries of the Delaware coast. From blue bird monitoring to horseshoe crab surveys, I wanted to learn about it all and how I could be the best environmental steward I could be.
While receiving my Bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Delaware, I led public and private outdoor educational programs as a Naturalist for Lums Pond State Park. Spending days teaching children about watersheds, biodiversity, and stewardship and spending evenings leading sunset kayak trips and nighttime exploration hikes with families was a dream.
After graduating, I moved to Prescott, Arizona where I received my Master's degree in Environmental Studies from Prescott College. While in Arizona, I spent my time working as the Education Coordinator for a non-profit animal sanctuary and rehabilitation center that was a staple in the Prescott community. My priority was working with the community to share environmental education to all individuals that wanted to participate. I enjoyed building curriculum for individuals age 2 through 110 and teaching everywhere from preschools to senior living homes.
While we loved our time in the desert, my fiancé, Matt, and I decided we wanted to settle down and build our lives together back east so we moved to Asheville, NC. I enjoy spending my time hiking, mountain biking, baking, drinking coffee, and volunteering at my local animal rescue. I'm excited for a fun year at Brevard Academy and look forward to getting to know all of the students, what they're passionate about, and sharing my enthusiasm for the outside world with everyone!
