Jenny Light
Hi!
My name is Jenny Light and I am the School Resource Officer for Brevard Academy. I am a Deputy Sheriff for the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office and have been in Law Enforcement here in the County for over 18 years. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Western Carolina University. I also have my Intermediate and Advanced Law Enforcement certifications from North Carolina. I was one of the initial SROs in the County and have served as the SRO at all of the elementary schools in the County.
As the SRO, my main focus at Brevard Academy is keeping all of the children and staff safe. I have implemented several programs, plans, and trainings to teach everyone the importance of being aware of their surroundings. I also teach the DARE program to students in 5th and 7th Grades, and teach other safety and awareness programs to students in other grades.
I am a native of Transylvania County, graduating from Brevard High School. I have one son who lives in Athens, Georgia. While I have always loved law enforcement, I have also loved working with children! Being able to join both of these loves is just the perfect occupation for me. My hope is to mentor and guide the youth of our County and to help them understand that Law Enforcement is not something that they have to be afraid of and can indeed be their friend.
Brevard Academy has become my home! It is a very warm and welcoming place and has made me feel completely a part of their family. I’m very happy to be a Bulldog!
